The Morrow Brothers Ford, Inc. Midwest Open Wheel Association Sprint Car Series returns to the high banks of the Spoon River Speedway this weekend for the 35th Annual #TomKnowlesMemorial.
No driver has found victory lane more than the five-time #MOWASprint Series champion Jerrod Hull who has won an unprecedented five events (2002, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2012)
2019 Series Champion Paul Nienhiser Racing has won the event twice (2015 & 2018) and looks to become a three-time winner. Nienhiser heads into the weekend, with a stop at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday Night with the #MOWASprints for the annual Schuh-Barlow Memorial, paying tribute to the late Herb Barlow and Carolyn Schuh. Nienhiser is tied atop the All-Time Wins List with Jerrod Hull at 22 wins apiece.
Dating back to the inception of the event in 1985, only three times has the event been rained out (2010, 2016, 2020).

The last Modified Challenge race will be this Saturday Night Sept 17th at the 35th Tom Knowles Memorial paying the 30 lap feature winner $3000. Five races so far with five different winners. The Modified Challenge Champion will be decided this Saturday night with the point champ taking home a $1500 check, 2nd in points will receive $700, 3rd $400, 4th $250 and 5th place will receive $150. Dave Weitholder holds a slim 10 point lead over second place and current track point leader Josh Allen. In third only 16 points out of the lead is Brandon Roberts, fourth is Allen Weisser (-33) and rounding out the top five is Tyler Nicely (-37).  Sixth thru tenth has Mark Anderson (-45), Mike Brooks (-50), Cole Falloway (-53), Trevor Neville(-60) and in a tie for tenth Mike McKinney and Lucas Lee (-68).

Also running will be the exciting Morrow Brothers Ford, MOWA Sprint Cars, the MARS Super Late Model Series both also running for $3000 to win, the E/B Mods and the USAC/IMRA SpeeD2 Midgets.

WOO Extreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series Invades the Spoon

The WOO Extreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series will invade the high banks of the Spoon this Saturday night Sept 10th. These high power wingless sprint cars always put on an exciting show. Also running will be the Dirtcar Modifieds in their 5th Challenge night running for $2500 to win. Filling out the race card will be the E/B Mods. Prices and times are listed on the flyer. 32nd Modified Plow Boy Nationals Sept 4th

The 32nd running of the Modified Plow Boy Nationals will be held this Sunday night Sept 4th at the high banks of the Spoon River Speedway. Modifieds will run a 50 lap feature event paying the winner $5000. Nick Hoffman has dominated this event the last 3 years and is expected to run once again. Track point leader Josh Allen has been on a roll and says he is up for the challenge. Look for other hot shoes like Michael McKinney, Tyler Nicely, Mike Harrison, Will Crup, Mark Anderson, Josh Harris, and last years track champion Dave Weitholder and many others to try and bring home the big check and the championship belt. Also this year Spoon has brought in the exciting MARS Late Model series which will also run for $5000 to win their 40 lap feature event. Rounding out the race card on Sunday will be the Pro Late Models, E/B Mods and the Hornets. These three classes will only run a feature event. These three classes Lineups will be decided in their time trials. If over 20 cars in their division the top 14 will lock in and the rest will run a B main to decide the final 6 spots. If 20 or less cars all will start feature. Top qualifier in these three classes will redraw 1 to 8 for invert in their feature event.

Modified and MARS L/M feature invert will be announced in the drivers meeting.

Free Camping. Please lineup along fence outside of turn 4 first then once this area is full rest can park in back of parking lot by corn field.

This is one of the biggest races of the year at the Spoon and we hope everyone can partake in this exciting event.

Hot Laps only
Lineups will be by average points. High average points start at rear. If you have less than 2 nights racing in 2022 at Spoon you start in rear behind average point cars. If you haven't raced Spoon in 2022 you can still race you just start at rear.
Fuel and tear offs ONLY break at lap 50 on front straight away. You must stop on front stretch or you will be DQ. We will line you up by were you will restart when we go back to green before you stop on front stretch. After all cars have stopped crews my come on track to fuel cars or drivers replace tear offs ONLY. This will be a 10 minute break. After you are told to roll you my now enter pits to change tires or make adjustments. If you do this you will start at rear. If you are still on same lap as leader you will start at rear of lead lap cars. You will be given 2 caution laps for this. Once green flag has been thrown you won't be allowed on track until the next yellow flag. 3 spin rule for this race for Pro Lates. 3rd spin and you are out of race. I think I have covered what will be allowed in the Tuff Spoon. Hope you can make it and good luck.

This Saturday Night August 20th the Fans will be treated to not only a great night of racing actions but they will get to meet the drivers that race the high banks of the Spoon for only a $5 General Admission ticket sponsored by FCFB. Classes racing, times and prices are listed on the flyer. Spread the word and we will see you all this Saturday Night August 20th for Meet the Drivers Night/ RailSplitter Nationals Night and Fan Appreciation Night sponsored by FCFB at the Spoon.

Quick Draw format

3 segments of racing for all classes.

Modifieds and Pro Lates will run three 15 lap segments.

E/B Mods will run three 10 lap segments.

Hornets will run three 8 lap segments.

Kid Mods will run three 6 lap segments

No Time Trials. Hot Laps only.

Everyone will draw when you get your transponder for starting spot in 1st segment.

2nd segment will be inverted by how you finish 1st segment.

3rd segment will be inverted by how you finish 2nd segment.

Point will be added for your finish in each segment to determine the final finishing order of your division.

If you drop out of a segment you will be allowed to run the next segment.

Feature rules will apply to each segment.

This will be the fourth race out of six for the Modified Challenge.

It’s a race the fans love because of all the passing. You don’t have to finish first in all the segments to become the overall winner, just collect the most points. Some drivers love it some don’t but this race has been a tradition at Spoon for over 20 years. We hope you will enjoy it and have fun. Times and admission prices are listed on the flyer.
