We here at the Spoon would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy New Years.

SPOON SETS SIGHTS FOR 2021

We would like to Thank All the fans that supported Spoon in this messed up year of 2020. Thanks to all of you and our great drivers we had another great season at the Spoon even though it was a short one. We also have to thanks all our workers at the track that give up their Saturday nights to help us have a fast and smooth race program every night. We now set our sights on 2021 and hope to have another full season of spectacular racing action with a few more special events.

Back again in 2021 will be the UMP Modifieds, UMP Pro Late Models, USAC/IMRA SpeeD2 Midget, E/B Modifieds and the UMP Hornets.

Play day will be Sundays April 11th and 18th. Any safe race car is welcome.

We have a few Headline events scheduled for 2021

                                                                                                            

The Greg Gilmore Memorial presents The Renegades of Dirt Modified Series on Opening Night April 24th for $3000 to win. (Possible $5000) This will be the first time this series has been at Spoon let alone in Illinois. Then on Memorial Day weekend (Sunday May 30th) we will have the Gary Cook Jr Memorial with the Modifieds running for $2064 to win. Also after a few years absence the MARS Super Late Models Series will be on hand for $5000 to win that night. On Saturday  night June 12th the POWRI Wingless Sprint Car Series will return to Spoon for an exciting night of wingless sprint action. June 24th has been given our date for the Summer Nationals Hell Tour with the Supers running for $5000 to win and Modifieds for $1500 to win. September looks to be exciting again starting on Sunday Sept 5th with the 31st Modified Plow Boy Nationals paying out to the Modifieds the biggest purse in Spoons history, $11,000 to win and $1000 to start the main event. After getting rained out last year the 34thTom Knowles Memorial will return on Saturday night Sept 11th with the MOWA 410 Sprints and the POWRI Lucas Oil National Midgets.

We are still working on more special events for 2021 but this gives you a peek at what is in store at the High Banks. I will post new events as they become official on our schedule. The complete schedule will be coming out in January so stay tuned for more updates.

30th Modified Plow Boy Nationals

This Sunday Night Sept 6th the Legendary Spoon River Speedway presents the 30th running of the Dirtcar Modified Plow Boy Nationals featuring the Modifieds running for a grand prize of $10,000 to win the 50 lap feature event. A huge field of Modifieds is expected with all this prize money on the line. The best Modified driver’s in the nation are expected to compete like Kenny Wallace, Nick Hoffman, Wil Krup, Josh Harris, Mike McKinney, Jeff Leka along with some local favorites like Allen Weisser, Mark Anderson, Ray Bollinger, Brandon Roberts, Josh Allen and many more. This is one you won’t want to miss, Sunday Night Sept 6th. Also in action will be the Dirtcar Pro Late Models, the USAC/IMRA SpeeD2 Midgets and the Dirtcar Hornets will be on hand.

Pits open at 12. Grandstands at 3:30. End of draw will be 5:15

This is one you won't want to miss. Only two nights of season points left. One complete feature race in all classes with a yellow at halfway to regroup. 1st half starts with high average point, new drivers and drivers with less than 4 point races in 2020 at Spoon starting at rear. Position you are in at yellow will be where you will start when you come back out for your final laps. If you like passing this should be a great race to see this happen. This Saturday Night August 1st will be Fan Appreciation Night. ONLY $5 Grandstand General Admission. Kids 10 and Under will be FREE. DirtCar Pro Late Models, DirtCar Modifieds, DirtCar Hornets and the E/B Mods will all be on hand.
Remember that facial masks are strongly recommended but not required and please maintain 6' social distancing in common places. If 6' can't be maintained please wear a mask. Please wash hands frequently and use hand sanitizer. Please help us stay ...within the guidelines set forth. Most tracks are fortune enough to get to open so help us keep it that way.
Sponsor for this race is Country Line Bar and Grill on W. Locust in Canton. After the races Saturday night stop in and turn in your ticket stub or armband and receive one FREE drink per person of either soda, well drinks, their Special drink of the day or domestic beer. Make sure to Thank them for their support.

DirtCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour

The DirtCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour is set to Invade the Spoon River Speedway this Thursday Night July 16th. The best dirt Super Late Model and Modified drivers in the nation are expect to try and tame the High Banked 3/8 mile oval we call the Spoon. We might even pickup some of the Lucas Oil drivers Thursday night before they head to Tri City Speedway on Friday. Look for Bobby Pierce, Shannon Babb, Billy Moyer, Tyler Erb, Jason Feger, Brian Shirley, Tyler Carpenter and a bunch of other drivers to attack the Spoon on Thursday night in the Late Model division. Also running will be the DirtCar Summit Modifieds. Always a big field of Modifieds anytime at the Spoon. Look for Mark Anderson, Allen Weisser, Josh Allen, Kenny Wallace, Nick Hoffman, Jeff Leka, Mike Harrison and many more Thursday night. We will also run the E/B Mods and the DirtCar Hornets.

Three and Four wide Racing Action returns this Saturday Night June 27th with 5 Divisions of racing action on Support Our First Responders Night. Help us Fill the stands with Red, White and Blue as we all come together this Saturday Night to Support our men and women in Blue and our other First Response Workers that put their lives on the line each and everyday. Thanks to the Fulton County Farm Service the Dirtcar Modifieds will be running a 25 lap Feature Event paying $1500 to the Feature Winner. It will also pay $175 to start the feature event. Also on hand will be the exciting USAC/IMRA SpeeD2 Midgets, the DirtCar Pro Late Models, the E/B Mods and the DirtCar Hornets.

We at the Spoon River Speedway have been working hard to get our track open and are excited to announce that with the cooperation of the FCHD we have been cleared to OPEN this SATURDAY Night June 13th under the DCEO OutDoor Recreations Guidelines. Below will be some of the guidelines we will be following so pay close ATTENTION Drivers and Fans. This Saturday June 13th will be the Gary Cook Jr Memorial Race with the DirtCar Modifieds running for $2564 to Win and $150 to start their feature event. Also on hand will be the DirtCar Pro L/M's running for $500 to win their feature event, the E-Mods/B-Mods running for $450 to Win their feature event and the DirtCar Hornets running for $300 to Win their feature event. Grandstands will be Restricted to 500 Adults or so and 50 Kids to maintain the social distancing guidelines set forth. This will be a first come first serve basis at the front gate. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Please NO Bad Mouthing or Complaining about Spoon or any other track or you will be removed from the comments. We are doing our best and are just happy we got the OK to open. Pits will Open at 2 Grandstands at 5 Hot Laps at 6 then Mod TT Followed by racing General Admission will be $15 Kids 5 thru 10 are $5 Adult Pit Pass $35 Kids 5 thru 10 Pit Pass $20 Below are some of the Guidelines we will be following.
