Summer Nationals HELL TOUR Invades the Spoon this Wednesday Night July 7th
Two 40 lappers in the Dirtcar Modifieds and Dirtcar Pro Late Models will be the main racing event for the Floyd Jordon Jr Tribute night at the Spoon Cracker 40's. IMRA SpeeD2 Midgets, E/B Mods, Dirtcar Hornets and Dirtcar Street Stocks will round out the racing program. Spoon will also hold its annual Fireworks show Saturday Night. A night you won't want to miss!!! Make sure to tell your family and friends, heck tell them even if there not your friends about this Great show thats on tap for Saturday Night July 3rd.
We are sorry to announce with the eminent forecast for heavy rain later this morning and 1 to 2 inches for tonight, DirtCar officials and Spoon River Speedway fill its best to cancel tonight’s races now instead of getting haulers, campers and fan in the facility just to send you home. The Summer Nationals Hell Tour will be rescheduled for Wednesday night July 7th. Sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to see everyone on July 7th.
A big showing of the future of dirt track racing showed up for the annual Kids Candy Dash night. Promoter Brad Denney hid nickels in the candy and whoever found one traded it in for a $5 bill.
In racing action DirtCar Modified driver Dave Weitholder continued his winning ways at Spoon by leading all 20 laps and picking up his second feature win in a row and third of the season at the Spoon in a yellow riddled race.
Kyle McMahon picked up his first feature win in the DirtCar Pro Late Models.
Justin Vanduren picked up his second feature win in a row in the Street Stock division.
Kevin Anderson picked up his first ever feature win at the Spoon in the E/B Mod division leading all 20 laps.
Kenny Butterfield was back in victory lane in the DirtCar Hornet division.
Brandon Sheppard made the trip to Spoon from Wheatland Mo Showme 100 to pick up the MARS Super Late Model Victory Sunday night.
Dave Weitholder continued his winning ways by picking up another feature win in the 30 lap Modified main event.
Chett Gehrke picked up the USAC/IMRA SpeeD2 Midget feature win and the #15 of David Lauritson picked up his second feature win in a row at the Spoon.
We are excited for the 2021 season to begin. We will be running almost every Saturday night. Classes in 2021 will be the Dirtcar Modifieds, Dirtcar Pro Late Models, USAC/IMRA SpeeD2 Midgets, E/B Mods, Dirtcar Hornets and making a return in 2021 the Dirtcar Street Stock which will run on the Saturdays that the D2 Midgets aren’t. We will have special events for kids like bicycle races, candy dashes, back pack night just to name a few. We will run almost every Saturday night with some special events added in. We have worked hard and think this will be one of the best racing schedules we have had at Spoon. Super Late Models will be at the Spoon four times. Winged Sprints twice with Lucas Oil POWRI National Midgets and Non Winged Sprints once. The Dirtcar Modifieds will have Special numerous events. Here are some of the special we have scheduled as of now.
We will begin with two practice sessions beginning on Sunday April 11th with the second coming the following Sunday April 18th. Any race car class will be welcome.
Opening night will be Saturday April 24th, the Greg Gilmore Memorial presenting the Renegades of Dirt Modified Series. This East coast series has wanted to come to the Midwest for a few years now. Along with our great Modified drivers in the Midwest they should bring some east coast driver in for this race paying $3000 to the winner. (Possible $5000 to win)
The next Special event at the Spoon will be on Memorial Day weekend Sunday May 30th for the Gary Cook Memorial which will see the Dirtcar Modifieds running for $2064 to win and making their return to Spoon in the first of three races schedule in 2021 will be the MARS Super Late Model Series running for $5000 to win.
The Lucas Oil POWRI WARS Series will Invade the Spoon on Saturday June 12th.
The 12th Bill Anderson Memorial will be on Saturday June 19th.
This year’s Dirtcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour will be on Thursday Night June 24th.
Making their first of two stops at Spoon in 2021 will be the 410 MOWA Sprints Car Series ON Saturday July 10th.
The 31ST running of the Dirtcar Plow Boy Nationals will once again be held on Labor Day weekend Sunday Sept 5th. This year the Modified feature winner will bring home $11,000 and the feature will pay $1000 to start.
The following weekend Saturday Sept 11th will see the 34th running of the Tom Knowles Memorial featuring the MOWA 410 Sprints, the Lucas Oil POWRI Nationals Midgets, the USAC/IMRA SpeeD2 Midgets and the Dirtcar Modifieds.
To end the season Spoon we will be running both Friday and Saturday Nights Sept 24th and 25th featuring the MARS Super Late Models season Championships running both nights for $5000 to win to crown their champion.
