SPOON RIVER SPEEDWAY RELEASES UPDATED PLANS FOR 2024 SEASON
Spoon River Speedway and the Denney family are pleased to announce that the 2024 racing season at Spoon River Speedway will resume, beginning Friday, June 14, 2024 with the Bill Anderson Memorial for the UMP Modifieds. Tim Neidig, who in recent years has stepped up his sponsorship role from providing support to not only drivers but Spoon River Speedway as well, will take over the operational duties of the ?-mile oval.
Neidig succeeds Quincy, Illinois’ Cloyd Barden who recently stepped away due to a personal health matter. “At first, I didn’t know what the future was going to hold for Spoon River, but I am glad that Tim has stepped forward. Our thoughts are with Cloyd as he moves forward with his health troubles”, said Brad Denney.
Weekly divisions, purse structures and other information will be released in the coming days. “At this time, we’ll continue weekly racing on Friday nights as the original schedule has already been set. I’ve spent quite a bit of time here over the years. It’s like a home away from home and I’m excited to take over the duties at Spoon”, said new promoter Tim Neidig. All planned events are on as scheduled including: June 20th’s Summer Nationals event and the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series two-day visit on July 19 and 20th, where the MOWA Sprint Cars will join on Saturday for the Tom Knowles Memorial. The World of Outlaws CASE Late Models will make their inaugural visit to Spoon River on Thursday, August 15 and the MARS Racing Series will return on Labor Day Weekend for the Modified Plowboy Nationals.
More information including weekly divisions, purse structures and more will be released in the coming days. Fans are encouraged to stay up-to-date by visiting the track’s Facebook page and website; www.SpoonRiverSpeedway.com
